THURSDAY IN LONDON (August 1, 2013)

Today is the day David and Noel are taking the train to Bovington to see the Tank Museum. I decided to skip this trip and have some time by myself in London.  I'll tell you about the Tank Museum after I hear all about it later.

The first thing I did today was get a massage!  There is a very nice Spa at this hotel and today they offered a 20% discount on all of their procedures (Sheryl please note).  I was their only appointment this morning so I got lots of attention!  The receptionist told me that on sunny days like today, they rarely have any business because there just aren't that many sunny days here.  It is a beautiful sunny day and about 80 degrees!

The Spa has a steam bath, a dry sauna and a hot and cold rain shower to use before your treatment.  I took advantage of all of that.  They also have a very elegant "quiet room" with heated lounge chairs and strawberry-infused ice water to enjoy.  I spent about an hour at the Spa before I had my massage!

My massage therapist was named Seanuey and she gave me a GREAT massage!  It was a welcome treat after walking so many miles yesterday.

After the massage I was starving so I went to a small cafe on Piccadilly Street named the Paris Cafe and had a sandwich and diet coke.  After that I hopped on the tube and took the Jubilee Line to the Tate Modern Museum.  I have been there before and it's one of my favorites!  I spent about two hours there and, luckily, it was not too crowded.

Noel asked me yesterday if I had been shopping at Selfridges Department Store.  I had heard of it, but I had not been there.  He told me it was very nice and not as expensive as Harrod's.  I checked out the address and discovered I could take the same undergroud line, Jubilee, the other direction and go there to have a look around.  It is a very nice store and was not as off-putting as Harrod's, for sure.  There were many things I would have liked to buy but there is no room in our suitcases!

It is now 5:20 p.m. and I'm back in our room having a glass of wine.  I will relax and read my book until David and Noel return.  Who knows when they will get back!  But they said they wanted to have dinner with me tonight so I will wait for them.  Sure hope they are enjoying the tanks!

Will finish this later!

  1. Your spa time sounds so relaxing...I need to create a "quiet room" at my house.

It's so cool that you went into Selfridges. I just watched that series on PBS.
